Reflection #12

honestly today I have nothing to reflect on I have my last teaching experience with the 6th graders at the elementary school one thing I noticed when I reviewed my tape is that I am always playing with something in my hands. I am confident and I truly love teaching.

refelection#11

today I have thought a lot about how I am going to use tech in my classes specifically the tablets most likely to be the ipad but other tablets could work I have been looking at how they could be used some of the uses I have thought of are:
1. textbook
2. storyboarding
3. sketching for the engineering design process
4. mobile instruction

these are some of the thoughts that I have had for this tech I would like to give this more thought and research but for now I will continue to think and ponder on this

reflection #10

as I prepared to teach today I thought about how lucky I am to be in a profession were I can teach kids and help change their life's I find so interesting how much I think about these students that I don't even know yet and how they would react to things and feel about what they are learning I truly feel like I am becoming a teacher

reflection #7

I was out at maple mountain high school and had a great time Lewis is in my opinion is a good teacher not grand or great but not bad I was able to interact with the kids and it was a lot of fun the interaction is very different then the jr high it is hard to put in words Her class good use a little more structure and she mentioned that to me so it is good to see that she knows and is  willing to correct it

reflection #8

I was teaching today on medical technology and I thought it went well the feed back was helpful with regards to the structure and the thinking on my feet after they have completed the assignment to challenge them more to help them progress even more and I know all of this stuff I have head knowledge I just need to get heart knowledge

Reflection #6

I have loved going out and observing in the schools it has allowed me to see what works and what doesn't and to see how the kids react to things at different ages. I also have learned from my peers today with the stl teachings I found that it is difficult to get to the higher ends of blooms taxonomy and that when we try to hard as a teacher it can get boring and kills the subject

Reflection #5

observations in the schools are the best thing for me I was out at Salem high this week and found that high school kids are very different then the jr. high mostly because I did not feel as involved with them they had less questions and they were involved in there projects it may have also been the class it could have also been that they did not seem to struggle with it as much I think it will be good to go and observe another high school in the coming weeks

Reflection #4

today I went out to mt. nebo jr high and I found this experience fun and interesting the kids were excited and asking questions and craziness was happening but it was good I don't know if I could take that much crazy every day but it seemed to work that is the other thing I noticed it was hard to see if the kids were learning or not

Reflection #3

Today I was out at vista heights and I found out a lot of good things first I got to see a film class in a junior high school which was good because all I have ever seen is high school so it was great to see the set up and how that gives them a taste of the video world but doesn't take them to deep. One thing I learned today is a golden nugget of class room management today one of the kids got super frustrated at the assignment and at the teacher the teacher then said to the student that he was not going to get mad or dock the child for being behind he was loving and caring towards the student and helped calm down the student it is the best way I have seen of handling this kinda of situation great learning day.

Reflection #2

Today in class we talked about how being equals with your students is important and a super effective way of teaching because you are both learning and growing together. I love the idea of you as a teacher teach once then have the kids teach it to each other. There was something said in class that I thought had a lot of meaning in it "don't be the sage on the stage be the guide on the side" what a great thought.

We also talked about caring for your students and for the things that your teaching and how having a loving caring environment will help learning be easier and in my own thoughts help the students feel the love that their Father in Heaven has for them and not only Him but their Savior Jesus Christ even though they have no idea that this is what they are experiencing in the class.

I have decide that I want this in my classes that peace that will come from this I want to know my students one on one I want them to feel the love that I have for the subject and for them and there learning  I want to wake up everyday pumped to go to work because I have the best job ever I get to teach. Not only do I get to teach them the subject that I have for them but I also get to teach them about life and values and about morals things this world needs today I hope to be this someday I feel that I am well on my way to becoming this kind of a teacher I really want this not for me but for the students I want to see that light in their eyes when they get it I want to be a great teacher for them so that they can see what I see in them the potential to be something greater then they could ever imagine.

reflection #1

So this class has started and the first few days have went past and they have mostly consisted of logistical things such as singing up for live text getting fingerprints taken and the FBI background checks done. Today in class though is when we hit the meat of things and man I loved it so many things to learn. I can most confidentiality say for at least today that I am going to love this class.

In class today I learned about my professor's teaching philosophy and how he likes to be there for his students when they need help he is there but for the most part he lets the students figure things out on there own correcting here and there when there are things that they might not know or understand he shared a wonderful Scripture with us it is Alma 1:26 which says

"26 And when the priests left their labor to impart the word of God unto the people, the people also left their labors to hear the word of God. And when the priest had imparted unto them the word of God they all returned again diligently unto their labors; and the priest, not esteeming himself above his hearers, for the preacher was no better than the hearer, neither was the teacher any better than the learner; and thus they were all equal, and they did all labor, every man according to his strength.

what this was to point is this that we as teachers need not put ourselves above our students it we need to achieve the student teacher area were we both learn from the students and teach from the students reminding me of another scripture found in the Doctrine and Convents 50:21-22

"21 Therefore, why is it that ye cannot understand and know, that he that receiveth the word by the Spirit of truth receiveth it as it is preached by the Spirit of truth?
22 Wherefore, he that preacheth and he that receiveth, understand one another, and both are edified and rejoice together."

this is what I want in my classroom I want to make a difference and I hope that I will someday.
