student teaching

Day 15

Wow! time flies when your having fun (or when your busy), can I just say that the amount of paper work that you have to do as a student teacher is crazy insane(which I am avoiding by writing this post) and most of it seems useless, anyway I will get off my soap box, yesterday I got observed and got feed back from my professor and my mentor teacher I wrote it down in my notebook but I know how I am about papers and keeping track of them so if I have here as well then when I forget I can come back and take a look. Also I am going to be a little more detailed in my explanation here so that I don't have to remember all that I did in the lesson and why I got the feedback I did and how to use it in the next lesson. Now that I have went on for ever now here is the feedback that I got.
  • the question you ask are to general (any questions) this is something that is easy to do but should not be done at all
  • engage the students more often
  • ask more questions in general but not general questions
  • more engaging slides the example first then ask the question and then show the answer
  • be upfront with the objectives the why we are learning this even with just in time learning
  • this is an idea but a sign up/job chart for the groups
  • use follow up questions for the camera angles
  • think pair share for questions
  • activities to engage them

Day 2

today was the second day of student teaching and like my mentor teacher said these first two weeks are going to be uneventful. The students haven't really asked me any questions and that is partly my fault I haven't interacted with them on my end asking them questions about their projects. I am going to be better with interacting with them tomorrow and see what happens.
