Reflection #2

Today in class we talked about how being equals with your students is important and a super effective way of teaching because you are both learning and growing together. I love the idea of you as a teacher teach once then have the kids teach it to each other. There was something said in class that I thought had a lot of meaning in it "don't be the sage on the stage be the guide on the side" what a great thought.

We also talked about caring for your students and for the things that your teaching and how having a loving caring environment will help learning be easier and in my own thoughts help the students feel the love that their Father in Heaven has for them and not only Him but their Savior Jesus Christ even though they have no idea that this is what they are experiencing in the class.

I have decide that I want this in my classes that peace that will come from this I want to know my students one on one I want them to feel the love that I have for the subject and for them and there learning  I want to wake up everyday pumped to go to work because I have the best job ever I get to teach. Not only do I get to teach them the subject that I have for them but I also get to teach them about life and values and about morals things this world needs today I hope to be this someday I feel that I am well on my way to becoming this kind of a teacher I really want this not for me but for the students I want to see that light in their eyes when they get it I want to be a great teacher for them so that they can see what I see in them the potential to be something greater then they could ever imagine.

reflection #1

So this class has started and the first few days have went past and they have mostly consisted of logistical things such as singing up for live text getting fingerprints taken and the FBI background checks done. Today in class though is when we hit the meat of things and man I loved it so many things to learn. I can most confidentiality say for at least today that I am going to love this class.

In class today I learned about my professor's teaching philosophy and how he likes to be there for his students when they need help he is there but for the most part he lets the students figure things out on there own correcting here and there when there are things that they might not know or understand he shared a wonderful Scripture with us it is Alma 1:26 which says

"26 And when the priests left their labor to impart the word of God unto the people, the people also left their labors to hear the word of God. And when the priest had imparted unto them the word of God they all returned again diligently unto their labors; and the priest, not esteeming himself above his hearers, for the preacher was no better than the hearer, neither was the teacher any better than the learner; and thus they were all equal, and they did all labor, every man according to his strength.

what this was to point is this that we as teachers need not put ourselves above our students it we need to achieve the student teacher area were we both learn from the students and teach from the students reminding me of another scripture found in the Doctrine and Convents 50:21-22

"21 Therefore, why is it that ye cannot understand and know, that he that receiveth the word by the Spirit of truth receiveth it as it is preached by the Spirit of truth?
22 Wherefore, he that preacheth and he that receiveth, understand one another, and both are edified and rejoice together."

this is what I want in my classroom I want to make a difference and I hope that I will someday.
